Kia ora e te iwi, March was very full-on for me and my whānau. We had found out that we were pregnant and had told a few people and were making life changes along with the body changes, and then for unknown reasons, our baby decided not to stay with us and move on. We had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. I cut back on mahi and was very limited, as most would have seen, while my body went through the process, except it didn't end there for us. I continued to bleed and ended up going to the hospital for emergency surgery and a blood transfusion to top me up because I was really bad. But it didn't stop there; I had to take more time off massage because I got a reaction to the blood transfusion. It has been all go! I am slowly getting back into mahi and taking things easy. It has been a very traumatic experience, but nonetheless, it's an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm very open about it as I found that it's not really talked about, yet very common. So I have taken a step back from mahi and have very limited sessions. If you ever want to talk about miscarriages, please reach out, I am more than happy to talk and listen. It has been a part of my healing journey.
More life has happened. I also enrolled in Waikato Uni to do some study this year. It's a step I have wanted to take for a while, and I will be fluent in Te Reo Māori in the coming months. With all this healing and new learning I'm doing, it puts massage on the back burner. I am only doing limited massage. I will have an open booking system online for Friday nights, and anything outside of Friday is at my discretion as I will be putting family and study first, so get in quick! Cash goes a long way, hint hint, ha ha.
